　　And we are going to turn now to some dramatic news halfway around the world(世界的另一端，上一期也碰到了，看来是Diane的口头禅), news that’s affecting your retirement savings (退休储蓄)everyday in the stock market. （很多养老基金都在股市里投资运作，因此如果股市大跌，老百姓的养老金就会受到威胁）

　　We are talking about Greece, which has become the poster child （在一个慈善团体招贴刊物海报上的小孩;作为范例的人或物）for a bad behavior scolded （谴责）by its neighbors, but more importantly it has the world teetering (踉跄，摇摆不定)the entire economy, and here is David Muir

　　Greece's famous ruins (古希腊的遗迹) now overshadowed （锋芒被...盖过）by financial ruin, today tens of thousands of protesters （抗议者）angered by huge tax hikes （这个词听上去像textile, tact sack等；意思都不对，这里hike表示上升，相当于sprike; 这里是“加税”）and drastic spending cuts（收入削减） went on strike（go on strike 罢工；示威游行；注意搭配, setting the finance ministry ablaze（set...ablaze; 有时也用torch）, throwing gasoline bombs into this bank, three people died inside.

　　Why is this crisis in the streets affecting global markets even our own?

　　For more than a generation, Greece has been relaxed over it spending (David的语速是实在太快，很难把握，需要从视频寻找线索；看到了“government salaries with huge bonus ”可见，这个国家爱公务员收入很高，政府很“大方”，导致了目前的金融困境) paying out salaries on the government dime （用政府的钱） with huge holiday bonuses, paying employees as if they worked 14 months a year been stead of 12. （不知道这种大方算不算是腐败的一种形式，难过欧洲各国都谴责希腊政府的做法！）

　　Early retirement for some in their fifties and tax evasion（逃税）, not only accepted （这一这个单词的“a”的发音）but it was embraced(相当于back, support支持；纵容).

　　But Greece is now drowning in debt（陷入了重重的债务；负债累累；曾经课上分享过巴西的经济，类似的说法是mired in debt) desperate for a bailout (救市；营救) from its European neighbors who are asking, “Why should we pay for your mismanagement(管理不利；经营不善)?”
