　　The earthquake in Sichuan Province has killed 192 people, left 23 missing, injured 11,950 and affected over 1.72 million, the local department of civil affairs announced on Monday afternoon.

　　据四川民政厅22日下午公布的消息，四川地震已造成192人死亡，23人失踪，11950人受伤，受灾人数超过172万。

　　A 7.0-magnitude quake hit Lushan County in Sichuan"s Ya'an City at 8:02 a.m. Saturday Beijing Time. More than 1,700 aftershocks have been detected, with the biggest one being 5.4 magnitude.

　　北京时间20日上午8时2分，四川雅安芦山县发生7.0级地震。目前余震达1700余次，最大达5.4级。

　　One of the hardest hit areas was Baoxing County, where almost all buildings had collapsed, including many that were built after the 2008 earthquake. Although the earthquake triggered landslides that cut off roads, rescuers were still able to reach the area on foot to distribute tents and other basic supplies.

　　宝兴县是受灾最严重的地区之一，几乎所有的建筑都已经坍塌，包括2008年地震之后修建的许多建筑。尽管地震引发山体滑坡阻塞道路，但救援人员仍然徒步抵达该地区，以分发帐篷和其他基本物资。

　　In Lushan County, makeshift toilets are urgently needed. Existing toilets cannot be flushed, as running water has not been restored, causing public health risks.

　　Premier Li Keqiang arrived Saturday afternoon by helicopter in Ya'an to direct rescue efforts. He visited a hospital treating many of the injured and promised them that the government would take care of their medical expenses.

　　In a weekend full of sad news, the birth of a baby provided hope. The baby was born in a tent outside Ya'an People’s Hospital at around 10 a.m. on Saturday, just about two hours after the quake. The baby’s mother is reportedly considering naming her new daughter Zhensheng, or Quake-Born, to mark the most memorable day of their lives.
