　　American twins Abigail and Brittany Hensel, who share a body, were never expected to survive beyond a few days, but now the girls have grown up into beautiful young adults. Recently they took their first steps into the teaching profession, picking up a job as part-time fourth and fifth grade math specialists.

　　起初人们都认为美国连体双胞胎阿比吉尔-亨泽尔和布列塔尼-亨泽尔活不过几天，不过如今这两个姑娘都长成了美丽的年轻女子。最近她们开始从事教育行业，做起了四、五年级的兼职数学教师。

　　When the Hensel twins were born on March 7, 1990, doctors warned their parents that they were unlikely to survive the night. But that prediction proved widely wrong.

　　1990年3月7日，亨泽尔姐妹诞生了，医生告诉她们的父母这两个小家伙很可能活不过当晚，但是这个推断大错特错。

　　Like many twins, they have different personalities and tastes. Abigail, the active, stubborn one, likes orange juice for breakfast, while Brittany, the joker of the family, only drinks milk for breakfast.

　　随着两人逐渐长大，她们与许多双胞胎一样，有着不同的性格和爱好。阿比吉尔性格活泼、倔强，喜欢在早餐时喝橙汁，而家里的开心果布列塔尼早餐只喝牛奶。

　　Brittany says, “Although we are totally different we bargain or we take turns.” They take turns choosing what to wear, and have specially-made tops with two necklines.

　　布列塔尼说：“尽管我们极为不同，但是我们仍会商量着办事或者是轮流做事。”她们会轮流决定穿什么衣服，而且还拥有特制的双领口上衣。

　　They enjoy sports such as bowling, volleyball, cycling, softball and swimming. And on their 16th birthday they passed their driving test, with each twin using one arm to control the steering wheel.

　　姐妹俩都很喜欢体育运动，比如保龄球、排球、骑车、垒球和游泳。16岁生日时，她们在驾照考试中分别用一只胳膊控制方向盘，最终通过了考试。

　　Although they have two teaching licenses, they are going to get one salary. "One can be teaching and one can be monitoring and answering questions," says Brittany. "So in that sense we can do more than one person."

　　尽管两人都有教师资格证，但是学校只给她们发一个人的工资。布列塔尼说：“我们一个人可以教课，另外一个负责监督学生并解答问题，所以从这一角度来说，我们比一个人干的活要多。”

　　With their position as teachers they have not only become role models for children academically, but also in their attitude to life, overcoming any challenges.

　　这对身为人师的姐妹不仅是孩子们在学习上的榜样，而且她们勇于克服挑战的生活态度也值得孩子们学习。
