告别Chinglish:那些英语口语中常用俚语

  作为母语是中文的英语学习者,特别是英语初学者,想必经常遇到的一大难题就是难以规避的Chinglish表达。我们的母语环境在每一位学习者身上都刻上了深深的烙印,产生了极具标志性的影响。这样的影响从表面来看在于语言,从深层来看,其实在于思维。细心并且渴求突破学习瓶颈的你,一定还记得前不久分享给大家的“体验式学习法“。想必大家也了解到:体验式学习法的要点之一是培养英语思维,将英语学习切实地联系到自身的生活体验和经历中。教研君一直秉承这样的观点:语言学习的最终目的是交流,活学活用才是根本之道。因此如何让我们所讲的英语真正为native的老外所听懂,是我们进行英语交流的最初出发点也是最终归宿。

  可是一讲到交流,大家就要哭诉:“老外讲的话明明每个词我都认识,但连起来我就是搞不清楚正确的意思。”或者:“我讲的话没有错啊,和我构想的中文意思一字不差、一一对应呢,可是为什么老外就是听不懂?”小伙伴们,这就是我们所说的文化和思维差异啦。简单地说,为了达到语言交流的目的,我们就要有意地规避明显存在的文化和思维差异,尽可能地贴近目标语言惯用的表达方式。在本文中,教研君暂且将这些惯用的表达方式称作“俚语”(实际上,依据不同标准,对于“俚语”一词的定义也是不一的)。本文整理了一些与人际交往相关的常用俚语。不用多说,直接上表格。绝对精华,值得小伙伴们猛烈收藏!

俚语释义例句
have a word with sb与……谈一下(严肃且时间短)I think I need have a word with my partner.
leave someone high and dry使……孤立无援Don't rely on him. He will leave you
make it easy on sb.放某人一马I'll make it easy on you, if you promise to be on time for work from now on.
beat sb. to the draw比……抢先一步I lose the project. Johnson beat me to the draw.
fill me in on告诉我(= tell me)What's your plan? Please fill me in on!
get over原谅,克服I just can't get over him.
set sb. up陷害某人I didn't steal your book. I was set up!
out of one's mind发神经,失去理智You must be out of your mind to lend him money.
get to sb.使……烦心Don't let it get to you.
split it out有话直说I took a long time answering, so my teacher told me split it out.
loop up to sb.尊敬,崇拜A lot of people look up to the professor.
sb./sth. is history……不再重要That girl is history. I've already got over her.
keep one's edge保持最好状态You have to practive every day in order to keep your edge.
blow hot and cold飘忽不定,犹豫不决Speaking of marriage, he blew both hot and cold.
cross one's heart发誓(在胸前画十字架)Cross my heart! I never cheated you.
get high hat摆架子Don't get high hat.
keep one's shirt on保持冷静(= take it easy)Keep your shirt on. We have plenty of time to catch the train.
bleeding heart老好人(= kind man)He was accused of being a bleeding heart on welfare issues.
give sb. a hand提供帮助Please give me a hand and hold the board while I paint it.
pull one's leg开某人玩笑You're always pulling my leg.
go for broke放手一搏,孤注一掷I'll go for broke in this exam.
add up讲得通(=make sense)His story just doesn't add up. He must be lying.
jump to conclusion仓促地下结论Don't jump to conclusions. I will prove myself.
round to the clock夜以继日地The ambulance services worked round to the clock.
have an ace in the hole底牌,杀手锏Tom seems awfully confident. He must have an ace in the hole.
in the bag稳操胜券We have the deal in the bag. The client came in this morning to sign the agreement.
