奥运火炬接力仪式讲话

举办奥运会是我国人民百年企盼，把北京奥运会办成一届有特色、高水平的奥运会是我国政府和人民的共同愿望和坚定决心。今天，我们期盼已久的奥运圣火终于来到了北京，来到了爱好和平，珍视友谊，发展合作的中国人民中间，我们将把这象征着奥林匹克和平、友谊、进步宗旨的圣火传递到五大洲千百万人民的手中，传递到13亿中国人民的手中。

To host the Olympic Games is a long-cherished dream of the Chinese people. It is the shared aspiration and firm resolve of the Chinese government and people to stage a high standard Olympic Games with distinctive features in Beijing. Today, the much anticipated Olympic flame has arrived in Beijing and reached out to the peace-loving and friendly Chinese people. From here, we will pass the Olympic flame, a symbol of peace, friendship and progress, to the people across 5 continents and to the 1.3 billon Chinese people.

奥运圣火是奥林匹克精神的象征，代表着希望与梦想，光明与欢乐，友谊与和平。现在奥运圣火带着伟大的奥林匹克精神已经来到了中华大地，熊熊燃烧的奥运圣火将传递和平友谊的心声，带给人们“同一个世界，同一个梦想”。

The sacred Olympic flame is the symbol of the Olympic spirit. It embodies hope and dream, light and joy, and friendship and peace. Now the Olympic flame has brought the noble Olympic spirit to China. The burning Olympic flame will spread the massage of peace and friendship and collect all people on the “One World, One Dream”.

From today, the torch will carry the flame across the globe, creating anticipation and excitement for the Beijing Games wherever the relay passes.

从今天开始，这火炬将承载着圣火传遍全球，无论它传递到哪里，都将播撒对北京奥运会的期盼和兴奋。

Crossing five continents, 21 cities around the globe, and more than 113 cities and prefectures on mainland China, wherever it passes the Olympic torch relay will cause everyone, whatever their nationality, culture or belief, to pause for a few moments to reflect on its message of peace and the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.

奥运火炬将跨越五洲，抵达地球上21个城市，传遍中国境内113个城市和省区，无论它经过哪里，无论是哪个民族、文化或信仰的人们，都会为此停下脚步，感受奥运火炬承载的和平讯息，领悟进取、友谊和尊重的奥林匹克信念。

现代奥运会是全世界人民和平友谊的盛会，百年奥运，中华梦圆，举办一届有特色、高水平的奥运会，是全体中华儿女的共同心愿。

The modern Olympic Games are a grand event of peace and friendship for people around the world. The century old dream of the Chinese nation to host the Olympic Games has been turned into a reality. To stage a high level Olympic Games with distinctive features is the shared aspiration of all Chinese people.

今天，象征着光明、团结、和平、友谊的奥运圣火带着希腊人民对中国人民的友好情谊，带着世界人民对2008年北京奥运会的美好祝愿，带着现代奥林匹克运动和平、友谊、进步的理想，从雅典的奥林匹克山来到了北京的天安门广场。

Today, the sacred Olympic flame, a symbol of light, unity, peace and friendship has traveled from the historic grounds of Olympia in Athens to the Tiananmen Square in Beijing. It has brought with it the friendship of the Greek people towards the Chinese people. The best wishes of people of the world for a better future and the vision of the modern Olympic movement that is peace, friendship and progress.

北京奥运会的火炬接力，将从这里出发，穿越广阔的大地，跨过浩瀚的海洋，把五大洲人民的心连接在一起，共同奏响北京奥运会“同一个世界，同一个梦想”的嘹亮乐章。

Starting from here, the torch relay of the Beijing Olympic Games will pass across vast expanses of land and oceans, connect the hearts and minds of people on five continents and spread the “One World, One Dream” to every corner of the earth.
