这次的翻译示范，选自2009年11月21日BBC网站的社会新闻。可能不牵涉到什么复杂长难句，主要让大家了解最新的甲流相关报道，其中有一些词汇值得大家积累。比如strain一次，一般同学可能都了解它有“扭伤，精神紧张”等意，但此处它表示“病毒株”。其中有一些词汇用法在四六级听力考试中也考到，望四六级考生借鉴！！：）

Tamiflu-resistant swine flu spreads 'between patients'

（英国BBC）抗药性猪流感病毒发生人传人病例

Health officials say a Tamiflu-resistant（具达菲抗药性的；Tamiflu中译为“达菲”，为甲流疫苗）strain（病毒株） of swine flu has spread between hospital patients.

Five patients on a unit treating people with severe（病情或症状严重的）underlying health conditions（潜在/疑似甲流症状） at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, were infected感染.

Three appear to have acquired the infection（被传染） in hospital.

They are thought to be the first confirmed cases（确诊病例） of person-to-person transmission（人传人感染） of a Tamiflu-resistant strain in the world. 这被认为是首例抗达菲甲流病毒人传人的确诊病例。

There have been several dozen（几十，英语计数体系和惯用量词与汉语不同） reports around the world of people developing resistance to Tamiflu（产生对达菲的抗药性） while taking the drug - but they have not passed on the strain to others.

Just one possible cases（疑似病例，一般意思病例多用suspected case，也有用possible case） of person-to-person transmission of a resistant strain has been recorded - between two people at a US summer camp - and this has never been confirmed.

Two of the University Hospital Wales patients have recovered and have been discharged from（被遣离） hospital, one is in critical care（中正加护） and two are being treated on the ward.

The health officials stressed there was no risk to anyone else.

They said tests were being carried out to confirm exactly what happened. （当局正进行各种测试以确定病例详情）

The UK has bought enough doses（药物剂量） of Tamiflu, which can shorten the duration（持续时间，此处特指发病时间） of swine flu and reduce the risk of complications（此处作医学术语，并发症）, for half the population.

Serious concern 事件引发高度关切

So any spread of a Tamiflu-resistant strain of the illness is a serious public health concern. 任何抗达菲甲流病毒传播的消息都会引发对公共卫生的高度关切。

The H1N1 virus（病毒） has been remarkably stable since it emerged in April, but virologists（过滤性病原体学者） had been half expecting new resistant strains to emerge. 甲流病毒自今年四月开始蔓延至今（病毒）性质非常稳定，但过滤性病原体学者已经开始担将有新的抗药性病毒株传播。（注意half在此处的用法为副词，表示“不确定地做某个动作”；类似用half作副词的表达法，在六级听力短对话中考过，当时真题的句子为We’ve just half decided whether we’d go swimming this afternoon. “我们并未真正决定下午是否去游泳”。）
