　　Serena为了挽回她和Blair的关系，亲自登门交谈，可是却碰了一鼻子的灰，Blair说明了不理她的原因是因为以前背叛过她，和她的男友Nate发生了性关系，但是始终没有告诉她。是Nate把事情的真相告诉她的。那么绯闻女孩说Blair这样对待Serena是君子报仇十年不晚，Blair以回避和排斥以及侮辱斥责开始了她的报仇之计。

　　1.I must have totally blanked on the part where I invited you over.

　　词汇点拨：blank在美式英语英语中作为不及物动词，它的意思是“突然忘记”，其英文解释为“ to be suddenly unable to remember or think of sth”。例如：

　　I knew the answer, but I totally blanked during the test.（我知道答案，但是在考试的那会儿我就是想不起了。）

　　短语点拨：要表示“突然想不起什么”，在blank的后面加上介词on，即：blank on。例如：

　　I blanked on your name at that moment.（我在那时那刻一下想不起你的名字了。）

　　拓展讲解：与之意思相同的有一个习语：draw a blank on。在习语中blank是作名词使用。

　　短语结构点拨：invite sb over意思是“邀请某人来（做某事）”。例如：

　　You invite your friends over to watch an NBA basketball playoff game on TV.（你邀请你的朋友来看电视上的NBA篮球决赛。）

　　Thanks again. It really was very kind of you to invite me over.（谢谢你了，你真客气，请我到你家里吃饭。）

　　2.Blair, I'm really trying to make an effort here.

　　短语点拨：make an effort意思是“努力”，注意作为这个意思解释时，effort是可数名词，不要认为是抽象性名词。例如：

　　It means that I make an effort to be a person with a conscience.（这意味着我努力成为有良知的人。）

　　She must make an effort to get through the night.（她必须鼓起精神，熬过这一夜。）

　　3.It was before I found out you had sex with my boyfriend.

　　短语点拨：find out意思是“发现”或“打听弄清楚”。这短语的用法如下：find something/somebody out；find out about something；find out+宾语从句。例如：

　　How did you come to find out where she's living?（你是怎么打听到她住在哪儿的?）

　　I'll write and find out how you've been conducting yourself.（我会写信打听你是怎样做人的。）

　　I must find out which of them was in the right.（我一定要搞清楚他们当中谁有理。）

　　I hope we can find out about it.（我希望我们能查清此事。）

　　短语点拨：have sex with somebody意思是指男女间发生性关系，这个表达是比较古老的表达法，现在通常用make love with somebody.

　　4.At least he felt he owed it to me to tell the truth.

　　短语点拨：at least是副词性短语，表示程度，意思是“至少”。例如：

　　The Judge will put him behind bars for at least five years.（法官最低限度也会判他坐五年牢。）

　　To do the job, you must have at least a bachelor degree in chemistry.（要做这项工作至少也要先取得化学学士学位。）

　　词汇点拨：owe在这里是“欠下人情债”的意思，owe something to somebody意思是“欠某人......”。例如：

　　You owe 1000 dollars to me.（你欠我10000元。）

　　短语点拨：tell the truth意思是“说出实情，说出事情的真相”，truth这个词要表示“真相”这个意思一定要与定冠词the连用，即：the truth。

　　5.Don't bother saying anything. I wouldn't believe you anyway.

　　短语结构点拨：bother doing something的意思是“花费心思做某事”。例如：

　　Don’t bother explaining it anymore.（别费心思解释了。）

　　文法点拨：would在里表示一种可能性，would not believe you意思就是：不会再相信你。

　　6.I never took you for a liar too.

　　短语点拨：take for是一个固定动词搭配，意思是“把......看待为......”。例如：

　　Do you take me for a fool?（你以为我是一个傻瓜吗?）

　　Do you take me for a millionaire?（你是不是把我当百万富翁?）

　　7.You just stay away from me my boyfriend and my friends.

　　短语点拨：stay away from意思“离开.....，远离......”，介词from的后面可以接something，也可以接somebody。例如：

　　He told his children to stay away from dangerous electrical things.（他叫他的孩子们不要接近危险的电器。）

　　In any case he was going to stay away from the General.（反正他对将军要尽量躲远点儿。）
