　　1.keep secrets (from sb)：(对......)保守秘密

　　Ps：动词性短语

　　Eg. We mustkeep a secret ofthe things being discussed here .

　　我们这儿讨论的事必须保密。

　　Eg. Don't tell anyone about our plan,keep this secret fromanyone—— it's a secret plan.

　　不要对任何人讲我们的计划，要保密，这是一个秘密计划。

　　2.know about：知道，了解，听说有关......的情况

　　Ps：动词性短语

　　Eg. He says I'm getting too old toknow aboutthe youth market.

　　他说我年纪太大了，了解不到年轻顾客的真正要求。

　　Eg. Nothing in Germany happens that he does not approve andknow about.

　　德国的事务他没有不管的，也没有不知道的。

　　3.have someone in that apartment：让某人呆在公寓里

　　Ps：have是使役动词，have + 人 + 表示地点的介词短语，意思是“让某人呆在某处”。

　　Eg. Ihave my friendsfor Shanghaiin my another house.

　　我将把我的上海朋友安置在我自己的另一座宅子里。

　　4.have a (torrid) affair with sb：与......热恋(私通，婚外情)

　　Ps：动词性短语

　　Exp. torrid意为“色情的”，affair意为“(男女之间)的分流韵事”。

　　Eg. It 's an open secret that he 'shave an affair withhis secretary

　　他跟秘书的恋情是一个公开的秘密

　　Eg. The judge is said tohave an illicit love affair witha film star.

　　那个法官与一个电影明星私通。

　　5.push sb out of：排挤某人

　　Ps：动词性短语

　　Exp. Push sb out是将某人推出的意思，后面跟介词of意思是从哪里推出。在这里引申为“排挤出......”。

　　Eg. They draw some people in,push others out.

　　他们拉拢一些人，排挤一些人。

　　Eg. Small shops are beingpushed out ofthe market by the big supermarkets.

　　小商店受到大型超级市场不断排挤。

　　6.run away (with sb)：与......逃跑，与......私奔

　　Eg. He started torun awayand barged into a passer-by.

　　他开始跑开撞着一位过路人。

　　Eg. I was afraid of the boy and I had an urge torun away fromhim.

　　我害怕那个男孩，我很想跑开。

　　Eg. They found out that she hadrun away witha fellow.

　　他们发现她和男朋友私奔了。

　　Eg. He was regretting that he had notrun away withher!

　　他当时没有和她一起出逃，现在后悔了。

　　7.take sth back：收回(所说的话)

　　Ps：动词性短语

　　Exp. Take sth back既可以指把某物取回来，也可指把说过的话收回来。在这里是第一个意思。

　　Eg. If you do nottake back what you said,I shall not speak to you again.

　　如果你不收回你说的话，我再也不和你讲话了。

　　Eg. Itake backwhat I said about you being selfish.

　　我承认我不该说你自私。

　　8.hide sb in somewhere：把......藏着......

　　Ps：动词性短语

　　Eg. A thicket makes good cover for animals tohide in.

　　丛林是动物的良好隐蔽处。

　　Eg. He would make Bessiehide in one of these buildingsand watch for Mr. Dalton's car.

　　他要让蓓西埋伏在一座这样的楼里，窥伺着道尔顿先生的汽车。

　　9.have no reason：没有任何理由

　　Eg. Youhave no reasonto disbelieve their account of what happen.

　　你不应该不信他们对事情经过的叙述。

　　Eg. Ihave no reasonto quarrel with him.

　　我没有跟他口角的理由。

　　10.this time：这次

　　Ps：副词性短语

　　Eg. There is no doubt that he will succeedthis time.

　　毫无疑问，他这次一定会成功。

　　Eg. I'm going to raise the devil with the managementthis time.

　　我这次得跟管理部门闹翻了。

　　11.from the beginning：从头来，从一开始

　　Eg. Harry was in the leadfrom the beginning of the race.

　　哈里比赛一开始就跑在前面。

　　Eg.From the beginningNixon was determined to dominate the most important negotiations.

　　从一开始，尼克松就下定决心要控制最重要的谈判。
