　　Rhythm in literature is a more or less regular occurrence of certain elements ofwriting: a word, a phrase, an idea, a pause, a sound, or a grammatical construc-tion. We are also accustomed to this recurrence in the alternate heavy and light beats in music.

　　Linguistics can be defined as the scientific study of language.This definition implies that!inguistics studies not just one lan-guage of any society，but the languages of ail human societies.The word "study" here does not mean“learning"，but“investiga-tion" or "examination".
