Awild flower on her bun
Surpassesany jeweled earring or hairpin.
Suddenlyshe calls her man to toss the net, sound the rattle,
Andthey row the boundless river-sky.
Theprofit’s good.
Rushbags encase their crabs,
Bamboobaskets hold their shrimp,
Andwillow strands string their carp.
Thecity’s not far away:
Gothere in the morning,
Beback at noon.
Theybring along a vast of someone’s fine brew:
Menand gulls get drunk together,
Lyingamong blossoming reeds, a vast stretch of white,
Andmiles and miles of setting sun.
