Chrysanthemums
Strandon strand of frail willows,
Swayinggently, breaks through the light mist as before.
Iturn toward the shadows of autumn hills in the setting sun,
Andrejoice that the flowers’ stems have not withered.
Incessantrain they have endured past the Double Ninth,
Andfortunately survived to the time of Small Spring.
Knowingthat tonight will be dipped in light frost,
Thebutterflies go off, leaving them to droop their heads alone.
Takingin the hardships:
Whennew chill penetrates the bones
Andillness comes once again.
Isit that I, Shuangqing, am heartless,
Castingyou aside after the dusk turns quiet?
Moonlightchills the railing and I am sleepless
Formany nights now you have not loosened your golden clasps.
Iwrongly neglected you when you blossomed for a poor household;
Nowthat I want to water the site of sorrow, I have no wine.
