　　Words and Expressions

　　1.Councils: A council is a group of people who are elected to govern a local area such as a city or, in Britain, a county.委员会（rural council, urban council, county council,）（committee: management committee, finance committee, executive committee）

　　2.install: to fix a piece of equipment（安装）

　　3.pavement-level：position along a vertical axis（在垂直轴线上的位置、深度、高度），pavement-level：与路面等高，（与路面相平）

　　4.traffic-lights：交通管制灯（红绿灯）

　　5.zombie pedestrians：a zombie is a man whose face or behavior shows no feeling, understanding, or interest in what is going on around them.（低头族，表情呆板而呆滞的人，不注意周边环境的人）（subway:赛百味，green bill：美元, sovereign:君主，钱）

　　6.be glued to: Someone keeps their eyes glued to something, you mean that they are watching it with all their attention.（聚精会神地注视…）

　　7.prevent …from walking into traffic: traffic：防止…走入车行道。

　　8.traffic: refers to all the vehicles that are moving along the roads in a particular area），因此我们说traffic jams，而不说transportation jams.

　　9.The Dutch town of Bodegraven: 荷兰的博德格拉文镇（Shakespeare:莎士比亚，Hitler：希特勒）

　　10.engross in: if something engrosses you, it is so interesting that you give it all your attention and time（使人聚精会神，吸引）

　　11.keep track of their surroundings：to make certain that you know what is happening or has happened to someone or something（确信周围发生的一切，留意…，记录…）

　　12.strip：A long narrow piece, usually of uniform width

　　13.LED：（Light Emitting Diode）发光二极管, 小型指示灯

　　14.crossing light：安装在交叉路口的指示灯

　　15.trial of the technology: A trial is an experiment in which you test something by using it or doing it for a period of time to see how well it works.（试验）
