　　World Autism Awareness Day hassucceeded in calling greater international attention to autism and otherdevelopmental disorders that affect millions of people worldwide.

　　The current session of the UnitedNations General Assembly has adopted a new resolution on this issue,demonstrating a commitment to help affected individuals and families. Theresolution encourages Member States and others to strengthen research andexpand their delivery of health, education, employment and other essentialservices.

　　本届联合国大会就这一问题通过了一项新决议，承诺帮助自闭症患者及其家庭。决议鼓励会员国及其他行为体加强研究并扩大卫生、教育、就业及其他基本服务。

　　The Executive Board of the WorldHealth Assembly will also take up the subject of autism spectrum disorders atits forthcoming session in May.

　　This international attention isessential to address stigma, lack of awareness and inadequate supportstructures. Current research indicates that early interventions can helppersons with autistic conditions to achieve significant gains in theirabilities. Now is the time to work for a more inclusive society, highlight thetalents of affected people and ensure opportunities for them to realize theirpotential.

　　要解决耻辱化、认识不足和支持机构薄弱等问题，国际关注不可或缺。据目前的研究表明，早期干预可帮助有自闭症症状的人显著增强能力。当务之急是要努力建设一个更包容的社会，强调自闭症患者的才华，并确保他们有机会发挥自己的潜能。

　　The General Assembly will hold ahigh-level meeting on 23 September to address the conditions of more than onebillion persons with disabilities, including those with autism spectrumdisorders. I hope leaders will seize this opportunity to make a meaningfuldifference that will help these individuals and our human family as a whole.

　　联大将于9月23日举行一次高级别会议，讨论超过10亿的残疾人，包括自闭症谱系障碍患者的情况。我希望领导人们将抓住这一机会，力求大有作为，造福于残疾人，造福于我们整个人类大家庭。

　　Let us continue to workhand-in-hand with persons with autism spectrum disorders, helping them tocultivate their strengths while addressing the challenges they face so they canlead the productive lives that are their birthright.
