"And just… oh, should we go? There's a bear there, it's crossing the road. We heard crackers going off, and now the polar bear alert team are moving around, so we're gonna get back in the car. So you can just see it through the trees there."

A BBC team cut filming short after spotting a polar bear nearby in the Canadian town of Churchill, located on Hudson Bay.

一支 BBC 拍摄团队因在拍摄过程中发现了一只北极熊而中止了拍摄，团队的拍摄地点位于加拿大小镇丘吉尔，临近哈德逊湾。

Known as 'the polar bear capital of the world', conservation scientists come here to monitor one of the most southerly polar bear populations in the world.

丘吉尔以 “北极熊之都” 的称号闻名世界，环保科学家们来到这里监测世界上最南端的北极熊种群之一。

The bears gather here, waiting for the bay to freeze and hunt seals, but warming temperatures delay this longer each year.

北极熊会在这里聚集，等待海湾结冰从而捕猎海豹，但逐年升高的气温让这场等待变得越来越久。

"We had about 1,200 polar bears here in the 1980s, and now we have closer to about 618. So we've lost almost about 50% of these polar bears in the last several decades."

The longer the bears stay on shore, the hungrier they get, and they may turn to alternative food sources, including humans.
