Global temperatures down in 2025 2025 年全球气温有所下降

Last year, global temperatures were cooled slightly by a natural weather pattern in the Pacific called La Niña. That meant it wasn't quite as hot as 2024, but the long-term trend is clear. The last 11 years were the hottest of all those recorded since the mid-19th century. And scientists fear that the planet could soon breach the long-term target of limiting the rise in global temperatures to 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels, possibly by the end of the decade.

Scientists say there's no doubt that this warming is caused by humanity's vast carbon emissions, mainly from burning fossil fuels.

1. Is this article mainly about global temperatures increasing or decreasing?

While the article mentions that 2025 was cooler than 2024, most of the article is about concerns relating to rising global temperatures.
