A 97-year-old woman, who suffered a stroke in 2025, has broken the Guinness World Record for being the oldest female wingwalker.

Betty Bromage, who lives in Cheltenham, broke her own record which was set when she did the same challenge four years ago.

By accomplishing this challenging stunt, Bromage raised funds for the stroke unit at Cheltenham General Hospital, where staff cared for her when she was sick.

"I'd just get bored at life otherwise. When you get old you can't go here, you can't do this, you can't drive, you can't see. I can't see very well, and I get a bit frustrated. So I want to do the things that I can do."

Last year, she had a stroke which still affects her speech, but she says that otherwise her health is good.

While she was taking on the wingwalking challenge again, her friends and neighbours watched nervously and cheered her on.

"Awful. I was here four years ago. Awful. Makes you want to cry. But yeah, she got on fantastic. Yeah. So proud of her."
