　　1. around here

　　精解： around是介词，意思是“围绕”，here在这里做名词用，意思是“这儿”，around here的意思就是“在这一带”，属于副词性短语。

　　例句： What are you sneaking around here for?

　　The scenery around here is perfectly beautiful.

　　2. have favorites

　　精解： favorite在这里做名词用，意思是“最喜欢的人或者是事物”，是可数名词，have favorites意思就是“有最爱”。

　　例句： A teacher shouldn't have favorites.

　　一个教师不应过分宠爱某些学生。

　　3. be ready for

　　精解： ready是形容词，意思是“准备就绪的，准备好的”，for是表示对象，be ready for是一个形容词性短语，的意思就是“准备从事，为......做好准备”。

　　例句： This guy's a nut and you'd better get ready for rainy days.

　　4. knock out of

　　精释： knock是“碰撞”的意思，out of这个介词短语的意思是“从......里”，knock something out of something意思是“从......里撞出......” 。

　　5. go to meetings

　　精解： go to+a meeting这个结构表示去参加会议，相当于go to attend a meeting。

　　例句： I will go to an important meeting from next Tuesday to next Thursday.

　　从下周二到下周四我将参加一个重要会议。

　　I can go to the meeting instead of my sick brother.

　　我可以替我有病的兄弟去开会。

　　6. make an appearance

　　精解： appearance在这里的意思是“露面，出现”，它和make搭配使用表示“露面”的意思。

　　例句： I will make an appearance at the party for a little while.

　　我只在晚会上露个脸就走。

　　7. get a reputation

　　精解： get是“得到”的意思，在这里做贬义词用，可以理解为“落得个”，reputation是“名声，名誉”的意思，是可数名词，get a reputation意思是“落得个名声”。要表示“落得个......样的名声”，在reputation后面接介词for。

　　例句： My hometown got a good reputation for being a great place to go sightseeing.

　　8. keep it that way

　　精解： keep是“保持”的意思，way是“样子”的意思，that way意思就是“那样”，keep something that way意思就是“让......保持那样不要改变”，意即：保持原样。

　　很好，让我们尽力保持这样。

　　9. used to do something

　　精解： 这个短语的意思是表示“过去常常做某事”，这个短语要跟used to doing something区别开，这个是“习惯于做某事”。

　　例句： When Smith was drunk, he used to beat his wife and daughter.

　　史密斯过去常常在喝醉酒的时候就打妻子和女儿。

　　Grandmother used to darn her own stockings.

　　祖母过去总是自己织补袜子。

　　10. in there

　　精解 ：in是介词，意思是“在......里面”，there在这里做名词用，in here的意思是“在那里面，在那儿”。

　　例句： The room has a big closet, so I can put a lot of stuff in there.

　　房间里有一个很大的壁橱，所以我可以放很多东西进去。

　　They seem to be enjoying themselves in there.

　　在那儿他们似乎玩得很痛快。
