　　China’s Ministry of National Defense revealed the structure of its military units in its latest defense white paper on Tuesday, which is the first time such information has been disclosed publicly.

　　16日，中国国防部发布最新版国防白皮书，首次将中国军队构成等信息公之于众。

　　The national media say the paper helps to further increase the military transparency, clear misunderstanding and resolve doubts.

　　国内媒体表示，白皮书有助于进一步增强军队透明度，消除误解和疑虑。

　　According to the paper, the People’s Liberation Amy maintains the world’s largest military force, with the current level of 2.3 million personnel. The army has 850,000 soldiers from seven military areas, the navy has 235,000 sailors and commands three fleets--the Beihai Fleet, the Donghai Fleet and the Nanhai Fleet, and the air force has 398,000 members.

　　据白皮书披露，中国人民解放军目前的总员额为230万人，是当今世界上人数最多的军队。陆军现有85万人，分属于7个军区;海军23.5万人，下辖北海、东海和南海3个舰队;空军39.8万人。

　　The paper also describes the role of China"s second artillery force, which contains the nation’s nuclear and conventional missile forces, but omitted its number.

　　白皮书还介绍了中国第二炮兵部队所扮演的角色，但没有提到具体数字。第二炮兵由我国核导弹部队和常规导弹部队组成。
