　　妻子的离去对Daniel是多么大的打击，在葬礼上，他说出了这一番感人至深的话来悼念他最爱的妻子。

　　Be pretty damn clear about sth. 对某样东西或某件事情非常确信。其实这句话Daniel本可以说pretty clear about...但是他偏偏要在中间加一个damn，很多人听到这儿的时候总会想这是一个不好的词语，但是为什么会用在这里呢?其实当外国人讲到这个词的时候并不一定是在说脏话，更多的时候是为了表示强调。例如：

　　I’m pretty damn sure about that. 我相当的确定。

　　Over my dead body

　　这是一个特别常用的俚语，指的是“不可能”的意思。例如：

　　一人问：我能在一天内学好英语吗?

　　你就可以回答： over my dead body

　　- Harry?

　　- Sarah, switch off your phone and tell me exactly how long it is that you've been working here. Two years, seven months, three days and, I suppose, what, two hours? And how long have you been in love with Karl, our enigmatic chief designer?

　　-Two years, seven months, three days and, I suppose, an hour and 30 minutes.

　　- Thought as much.

　　- Do you think everybody knows?

　　- Yes.

　　- Do you think Karl knows?

　　- Yes.

　　- Oh, that is... that is bad news.

　　-I just thought that maybe the time had come to do something about it.

　　- Like what?

　　- Invite him out for a drink, then casually mention you'd like to marry him

　　- You know that?

　　- Yes. And so does Karl. Think about it, for all our sakes. It's Christmas.
