LVMH has given up the fight for Hermès, ending abitter four-year battle between the luxury industry’sGoliath and its family-controlled rival.
路威酩轩(LVMH)已放弃对爱马仕(Hermès)的追求，结束了奢侈品行业的“歌利亚”(Goliath)与家族控制的竞争对手之间长达4年的艰苦争斗。
The truce announced yesterday appears to be avictory for the Hermès family, which had vowed toeject LVMH from its share capital, and constructedelaborate defences to maintain its independence.
昨日宣布的“休战协议”看来是爱马仕家族的胜利。该家族曾发誓把路威酩轩从其股东名单中赶出去，并构筑了巧妙的防御措施以维持自身独立地位。
The deal offers Bernard Arnault, France’s richest man and head of LVMH, a face-saving way towind down his 23.2 per cent holding amassed in Hermès since 2010.
