andnot yet time for gifts of winter clothes:
thisseason always pitches me into depths
allgrief-clotted thoughts of ancient times.
I’llnever sail on thousand-mile oars again
orthink through the hundred generations,
butMaster Shang’s distant mind my own
now,and old Master Hsu’s recluse ways,
Iwander these winds boundless and clear,
andthe headlong rush of autumn streams.
Riversand mountains open way through
thatalluring luster cloud and sun share,
andwhen twilight’s clarity infuses it all,
