Last week in Xinjiang, a group of knife-armed assailantslaunched a series of attacks on government and police buildings in a violent uprising that leftnearly 100 dead, according to authorities, among them 37 Han and Uighur bystanders. Statemedia attributed the violence to Xinjiang separatists who carried banners declaring a 'holy war.'
