　　来自拉丁语，由 pen + insula 构成。其中，前缀 pen （ pene ）表示 almost （几乎），如 peneplain （准平原）、 penultimate （倒数第二）； insula 表示“隔离”，如 insulate （隔离、绝缘）。所以 peninsula 的字面意思就是“几乎与大陆隔离”，中文译为“半岛”。
