　　JPMorgan Chase set aside $1bn in legal reserves,depressing third-quarter results yesterday, as thelargest US bank by assets prepares to pay bigpenalties over allegations it manipulated theforeign exchange market.

　　Bulking up its reserves by $1bn was more than analysts expected and took the bank’s profitsfor the three months to the end of September below expectations, at $5.6bn.

　　Deutsche Bank is planning to increase its already sizeable litigation reserves this month,according to a person familiar with the matter. Analysts at Morgan Stanley estimate thatDeutsche will have to add another 1.4bn to its total pot, which could bring it to 7bn.
