　　Mr. Khan, who has since mid-August been one of the leaders of a protest in the capital,Islamabad, against the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, is fast gaining momentumas a challenger to Mr. Sharif. He has been drawing huge crowds in rallies across the country,especially in Punjab, the most populous and prosperous province, which determines the politicalfuture of any political party here.
