　　Officials in Urumqi, stung by two deadly attacks thisyear against civilians in the northwestern Chinesecity, are offering cash rewards of up to 1 million yuan($163,000) for anyone who tips off local authoritiesabout suspicious activity linked to terrorism andreligious extremism.

　　中国西北部的新疆乌鲁木齐市日前出台办法，奖励群众向当地政府机构举报涉及暴力恐怖和宗教极端活动的线索，奖励金额最高可达人民币100万元(合163,000美元)。今年乌鲁木齐市发生了两起针对平民的暴力袭击活动。

　　The program, announced Tuesday after itsenactment on Sept. 1, seeks to create 'collective security and governance' in the capital ofChina's restive region of Xinjiang and foster a communal effort in curbing terrorism, accordingto the state-run Xinjiang Daily.

　　据《新疆日报》讯，上述奖励办法希望在全社会形成群防群治、联防联控的工作体系，打一场反恐维稳的人民战争。上述办法于周二公布，已于9月1日起施行。

　　Authorities would pay informants between 1,000 yuan and 1 million yuan for tipoffs regardinggroups and individuals involved in planning, inciting and executing acts of terrorism; theprovision of logistical support for such activities; the manufacture and transportation ofarms, explosives and other weapons; as well as the propagation and sales of extremistreligious material; among other subversive activities.

　　该办法奖励内容主要包括举报以下情形线索，奖励金额从1千元到1百万元不等：策划、煽动、实施暴力恐怖活动;为暴力恐怖活动提供便利条件;制造、运输枪支弹药、爆炸物品及其他武器;传播、销售宗教极端材料;其他涉嫌暴力恐怖和宗教极端违法犯罪活动。

　　The sizes of rewards would be assessed based on the value of information provided, theXinjiang Daily said, citing an official notice issued across Urumqi. The maximum payout isreserved for information that lead to tips that help avert mass-casualty situations and seriousdamage to property, the newspaper said.

　　《新疆日报》援引在乌鲁木齐全市发布的官方通知称，将根据举报线索的价值，给予不同金额的奖励。提供的线索有助于避免重大人员伤亡和财产损失的，将给予最高金额的奖励。
